Gaming is a lifestyle

eSports at the Olympics?

Two posts on the same day?! What sorcery is this?! Aaaanyway…

Torch for GamingI just finished listening to a podcast where they were discussing the possibilities of bringing eSports to the Olympics, and already now people are working on this! Personally I don’t know if I want to see eSport at the Olympics since it doesn’t fit my image of the Olympics nor eSport, but I do approve of the idea of getting pro-gaming more “public” and not having it for us geeks only! I really do wish we could see eSport on the main tv-channels just as any other sport.

Whether we like the idea or not, I really think we should sign the Torch for Gaming petition to show our support to the growing eSport all over the world.

“In the last few years, the gaming industry has solidified its position in pop culture, and with that, the emergence of eSports has quickly grown into a gaming phenomena in its own rights. But can you envision a future where eSports takes the monumental leap forward and becomes an Olympic event? If the Torch For Gaming petition proves successful, then that future may not be that far away. We sit down with Daniel Grzelak, CEO of Gamer Institute, the group behind the initiative, and StarCraft II streaming enthusiast LivinPink to discuss in this Now Loading Podcast.”

“Tougher than ice dancing”

“Faster than synchronised swimming”

“More relevant than curling”

It’s going to be interesting to see how this will work out, but I’m hoping it doesn’t hurt the eSport!
